For many communities, the winter months in the Northeast can be tough, but for Cooperstown, the charm of Main Street in the winter is something to take in.
Each year, the day after Thanksgiving, Santa Clause makes his trip from the North Pole, to his second home in Pioneer Park on Cooperstown’s Main Street. Welcomed by a parade, with light poles decorated, christmas lights on, Santa is greeted by residents and visitors alike at his cottage. There, from that night until Christmas Eve, kids and their families can visit Santa. When Santa is in his cottage, the members of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce provide cookies and hot chocolate to all visitors.
Throughout the winter months, Cooperstown is host to some signature events in the area. Including the Rockin’ Around Cooperstown Ugly Sweater Run/Walk, The Farmers’ Museum Candlelight Evening, and the annual Winter Carnival.
The winter season is always capped off by Brewery Ommegang’s signature event, Snommegang held in nearby Oneonta.
