Holiday Event invites everyone to come to Cooperstown to enjoy the holiday season, meet Santa, and shop local
The Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce and Clark Sports Center will partner again to host the 2nd Annual “Rockin Around Cooperstown Ugly Sweater Run and Walk” on Saturday, December 5. The event will encourage runners and walkers to venture through historic Cooperstown in their ugliest holiday sweaters and encourage patrons to shop and eat local, while visiting Santa’s home.
The event will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m. with Santa himself giving opening remarks. Participants will be given a Santa hat and silver bells to wear during their choice of a 4-mile or a 2-mile loop around Cooperstown that will begin and end at Pioneer Park. Upon completion of the race, participants will receive either a voucher for a free coffee courtesy of Stagecoach Coffee or a free beer from Brewery Ommegang. Prizes for the race will be given out for the Ugliest Sweater, the Ugliest Team Sweaters, and based on participants finish in the race. We encourage the community to stay downtown visiting our great restaurants and shop local for the holiday season.
“After last year’s success, we hope this event continues to become a staple in the region,” says Matt Hazzard, Executive Director for the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce. “During the holiday season, Cooperstown is a magical place and the opportunity to showcase everything we have to offer is great for our community. We are excited to continue our partnership with the Clark Sports Center.”
“The Clark Sports Center is excited to partner again this year.” says Val Paige, Director for the Clark Sports Center. “We take pride in promoting healthy lifestyles and with this event we get a chance to draw in people throughout the region to experience what makes Cooperstown such an extraordinary place all year round.”
The event will showcase Cooperstown’s beautiful downtown and provide an opportunity for restaurants and retailers to showcase their businesses to the crowd of locals and visiting attendees. The Ugly Sweater Cooperstown Walk and Run will highlight a fun filled day in Cooperstown beginning with a PTA Pancake Breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Elementary School, the Cooperstown Farmer’s Market beginning at 9 a.m., and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Holiday Celebration featuring Pathfinder Village residents bell performance at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend this unique event.
Beginning October 26, participants can register at www.itsyourrace.com for $25 or $20 if you bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots on the day of the race. Teams of five will receive a discount as well. Registering will also be available at the Clark Sports Center and the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce. Sponsorship opportunities are available and interested businesses should contact the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce at 607-547-9983 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information and details.
