New this year, Presentation on Presenting the Best of YouChrisandKayla

Senior High students in the Cooperstown Central School and graduating in June 2014 are invited to apply for the Leadership Scholarship offered by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce. Deadline for applications is April 15 and applications are available here or by calling Rich McCaffery at 547-5256. The scholarship is for $500.00.

This fourth annual scholarship, founded by Rich McCaffery of Cooperstown, is offered to students enrolling in a course of study to include Volunteerism, Community Development/Organizational Leadership, or hospitality/tourism either with a private enterprise, not-for-profit organization or government entity. The course of study must begin with the semester following graduation, often referred to as the Fall semester.

Please note that while past and present community service is vital and recognized, this scholarship is focused on a student’s course of study after high school.

Donations in support of this scholarship are being recruited from community businesses, organizations and individuals. All donations are maintained in a designated scholarship fund for this sole purpose. All donations are acknowledged on the Chamber website.

Your contribution may be sent to Rich McCaffery, P.O. Box 483, Cooperstown, NY 13326. All contributions will be acknowledged in the program and announced at the scholarship reception on May 22, 4:30 – 6 pm, Louis Jones Center, The Farmers’ Museum; the community is invited.

New this year will offer a presentation Presenting the Best of You, by Barbara Lang of B. Lang Consulting. Barbara will present a fun and fast paced presentation that encourages people to recognize how their own behavior impacts others, both intentionally and unintentionally. She combines humor, stories and life lessons along with the latest research in sociology, behavioral economics and psychology to create a dynamic and engaging event that is tailored to the interests and needs of Cooperstown’s hospitality business community. (Click here for Barbara Lang’s Bio and here for an overview of her work.)

Beyond developing more effective interpersonal skills, deepening personal awareness and increasing their ability to leverage behavior to create positive first impressions attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding on how their behavior can transform a passing encounter to a life-lifting experience.

The community is invited to attend and business staff are highly encouraged. Donations, to defray this investment, will be accepted on the day of the event. All sponsors of the scholarship are invited at no fee. A donation form is below.
